What is Greece Startup Map?
Greece Startup Map is a platform through which we can present, connect, and promote the startups and all those involved in the emerging Greek startup ecosystem.

Why created it?
To put Greece on the map. And to get everyone aware, informed, and engaged.

Why is it in English?
Companies in Greece should have a global outlook and address the global market. We are citizens of the world, as Diogenes once said; our offices may be local but our business is irrefutably global.

What kind of companies are on the map?
We have created this map for startups and the active participants in the ecosystem – so please do not include your company if you are not one of them. More specifically, the map includes information on the following:

  • Startups, classified by their sector (see what is a startup)
  • Accelerators and Incubators focused on helping startups boost their success potential through structured programs and services
  • Hackerspaces and Coworking centers providing the space and inspiration for the work to be done
  • Investors, from private business angel investors to venture capital funds
  • Community (Enablers), who mainly include associations and online communities, educational institutions and initiatives (relevant to entrepreneurship), governmental initiatives supporting the space, press and media geared towards startups, research and development centers, as well as any non-profit organization, social initiative, and foundation supporting early-stage entrepreneurship.

Soon and under certain guidelines we will be adding Service Providers, i.e. companies focused on helping startups or that work on a startup-friendly way (which for example may include law firms or design studios)

Finally coming up are EVENTS for startups and entrepreneurs. Only events beginning on the next 60 days will appear on the map.

What is a startup?
A startup is a company -or temporary organization- designed and aiming to grow fast. Evidence and indications of growth (or potential for) are: a. innovation, either through technology or unique business model, and b. scalability and global reach. Being newly founded does not in itself make a company a startup. Nor is it necessary for a startup to work on technology, or take venture funding. The sole essential element is growth. Everything else we associate with startups follows from growth (read more onwikipedia).
So, examples of what is not a startup? A service company, either newly founded or simply on the internet (such as a tech consultancy or a project-based service provider creating websites and apps). A retail reseller, either with a single or multiple locations, with physical or online stores. An idea.

How do I add my company? How does the sign-up process work?
If you want to add your company please click here for the relevant form. You will be asked to provide some basic information such as your name, the company’s name, its address, and a brief description about it – take 5 minutes to complete all info (required for our verification process) and click Submit. Once we receive the request, we will review the information provided and if everything looks good we will post on the platform. In case we have any questions or any issues arise we will contact you through email.

What benefits can my company expect to receive from appearing on the map?

As part of this dynamic representation of the Greek startup ecosystem, you gain full visibility not only from valuable actors -such as angel investors, seed funds and venture capital companies- but also from anyone looking to get involved with startups, from potential partners to the mass media.

I have submitted my company but it does not appear on the map…
Please allow 3-5 days to process the information, you will be notified through the email address you provided.

What can I do if I want to change any of the data I submitted (address, description‚etc)?
We are working on a system where you will be able to manage everything on your own – we are actually developing several features to improve this service so please stay in touch and more updates will come soon.

How do you monetize this? Are you going to sell our data?
Absolutely not. This is an initiative to support the Greek startup ecosystem in gaining the visibility and recognition it deserves. Right now we do not have any plans to monetize; but regardless of what happens in the future, this platform and service will always be free for startups. Forever.

I have an wonderful idea or a proposal, or I have found an error‚ what do I do?

We look forward to your feedback! Please use the Feedback button located at the lower left side of the screen or click here.
